This is a completely new feeling for me.  I'm actually nervous.  Rarely do I feel nervous or anxious.  Usually, I feel in control, confident, and ready to take on the world!  However, tomorrow is different.  Tomorrow is the day feared by millions around the world.  Tomorrow is the first day of school.

This is my first day of school teaching at a new school in nine years.  The kids don't know me and neither do their parents.  Luckily, the staff knows me (this eases the nerves a little).  I actually had a few kids wandering around campus ask me today, "Are you the new teacher?"  New teacher.  Hmm.  I'm used to being the veteran.  It's both nerve-inducing and exciting all at the same time.

I've spent the past month setting up my classroom, learning the curriculum, and researching best practices for teaching fifth grade.  After countless hours of working, it all comes down to showtime tomorrow morning at 8:15.

Time for bed.

Day 1 of setting up.

A month later.  Ready for the first day of school!
