Follow-Up on Number Talks

In my last post, Small Groups and Number Talks, I discussed using number talks in small groups to help develop students' understanding of number sense, place value, and fractions/decimals.   Last week in class, I used number talks to discuss different ways to solve multiplication and division problems.  All of the examples on the charts below directly came from students.  It's amazing to see how many different strategies can be used to tackle one problem, all resulting in the same answer!
